The Art of Automotive Refinishing: From '32 Ford Frames to Clean Split Window Corvettes

The Art of Automotive Refinishing: From '32 Ford Frames to Clean Split Window Corvettes

At Rods N Mods in St. George, Utah, we know that a high-end Restomod or Pro-Touring build isn’t truly finished until the paint looks like liquid glass. Our fabrication bay handles the heavy lifting and precise metalwork, but the paint booth is where a classic car's soul is brought back to life.

Whether we are spraying a simple chassis component or executing a show-stopping, full-body custom paint job, our auto body experts including Gage and Drew approach every project with the exact same standard: absolute perfection. Here is a look at what has been rolling out of the Rods N Mods paint booth recently, proving that the right finish makes all the difference.

The Masterpiece: '63 Split Window Corvette

When you are dealing with an icon like a Split Window Corvette, there is zero room for compromise. Fiberglass bodies are notoriously difficult to prep, requiring hundreds of hours of meticulous fiberglass repair, block sanding, and smoothing before a single drop of primer or base coat is ever sprayed. Our team put in the painstaking hours to ensure the body was laser-straight. The result is a flawless, mirror-like finish that perfectly highlights every sharp, legendary body line of this classic piece of American automotive history.

Classic Color, Modern Depth: Adobe Beige Chevelle

There is a fine line between maintaining a classic car’s authentic heritage and giving it a modern, high-end finish. We recently took on a full paint job for a classic Chevelle, keeping its understated, factory-correct Adobe Beige aesthetic. However, by applying modern surface prep, advanced block sanding, and premium clear coat techniques, Gage and Drew gave this Chevelle a depth and shine that simply did not exist on the original assembly line. It is the perfect blend of a vintage color palette and elite, modern Restomod finishing.

Nailing the Foundation: '32 Ford Frame

Not every trip into the paint booth is for a full body exterior. A true top-tier custom build requires the underside to look just as good as the hood. We recently finished spraying the complete frame for a '32 Ford build. Getting a flawless finish on a chassis requires navigating tight corners, complex bracketry, and intricate suspension mounting points to ensure the metal is fully protected and looks incredible. Whether it is a "simple" frame paint job or a complex multi-stage custom color, we lay down the same glass-like finish.
