1967 Camaro Rods N Mods Build - SpeedTech Chassis

Breathing New Life into Vintage Camaros: Inside the Rods N Mods Shop

Welcome to Rods N Mods, your premier high-performance custom shop located right here in the red rocks of St. George, Utah. Geographically, we sit in the perfect sweet spot to serve hardcore hot rod and muscle car enthusiasts from Las Vegas, across the state of Utah, and throughout Southern California. We specialize in taking iconic American steel and engineering it into something truly badass and right now, our shop floor is an absolute dream for Chevy fans.

We currently have three different first-generation Camaros in the shop getting the full custom treatment: a classic 1967 RS Convertible, a heavy-hitting 1969 SS, and a clean base model that is stripped down and ready for a massive transformation.

Why We Love the '67–'69 Camaro

There is a reason the 1967 to 1969 Chevrolet Camaro remains the ultimate canvas for a Restomod build. The 1967 model kicked off the pony car rivalry with its unmistakable muscular long-hood, short-deck styling.

As custom fabricators, we appreciate the distinct evolutionary changes General Motors made over this three-year run. The 1968 models, for instance, received revised rear shock mounting points to help reduce axle hop a crucial engineering update when you are trying to put big horsepower to the ground. Chevrolet also deleted the classic vent windows that year, replacing them with the new Astro Ventilation system.

By 1969, the Camaro was given a significantly redesigned body. It featured a more sharply angled grille, sleeker doors, and aggressive quarter panels equipped with simulated rear fender louvers. For the big-block SS models, Chevrolet even designed unique hood louvers featuring a squared-off design with four ports per side.

The Rods N Mods Lineup

When a first-generation Camaro rolls through our bay doors, we don't just restore it; we re-engineer it for modern performance. Here is a look at what is currently on the floor:

  • The 1967 RS Convertible: This drop-top icon is keeping its vintage charm on the outside, but underneath, it's getting the modern treatment. The Camaro is getting a SpeedTech Performance IRS Extreme Chassis. That will take this Camaro into the modern era. We are talking custom-fabricated floors, and a reliable, high-horsepower LS swap to ensure it cruises from St. George down to the Vegas strip without breaking a sweat.
  • The 1969 SS: This car is all about aggressive attitude. With the '69's sharper body lines acting as the foundation, we are dialing in the horsepower. Whether it's setting up a massive supercharger or fabricating the chassis to handle a brutal launch at the drag strip, this SS is being built to intimidate.
  • The Base Model Blank Canvas: Sometimes, a clean base model is the best starting point. Without the guilt of cutting up a rare, numbers-matching Z/28, we are tearing this one down to the bare metal. It is getting fully custom sheet metal work, a highly detailed engine bay, and a custom interior tailored perfectly to the driver.
