Stop Working Around Your Cars — Start Moving Them
Share
If you've spent any time in a build shop, you know the frustration. A car sits in one spot for weeks not because the work is done, but because moving it is a production. You work around it, clean around it, and design your entire workflow around something that shouldn't be permanent. That ends with the Auto Glide Dolly.
We've been using Auto Glide Dollys here at Rods N Mods on every car in the shop — our 1967 Camaro restomod, the 1956 Ford F100, and our 1969 Mustang — and the difference in how we work day to day is hard to overstate. These things move fast, they move easy, and they've completely changed how we manage space and workflow in the shop.
What Is an Auto Glide Dolly?
The Auto Glide Dolly is a heavy-duty, all-steel shop dolly designed to sit under each corner of your vehicle and give it full 360-degree mobility — no engine required, no pushing and grunting, no calling in three guys to shuffle a build out of the way.
A set of four dollys rolls under your car and suddenly your 3,500-pound project moves like a shopping cart. Any direction, any time, with one person.
Built for Serious Shops
This isn't a harbor freight cart situation. Auto Glide Dollys are built to handle real builds:
- 4,000 lb per dolly rated capacity — enough for your heaviest classic iron
- 6" premium casters for smooth, effortless movement across shop floors
- All-steel welded construction — no flex, no wobble, no failure
- Fully powder coated for long-term durability in a shop environment
- Universal multi-lug mounting pattern so it works across vehicles
- Security tab for uneven surfaces — keeps the vehicle locked and stable when you need it to stay put
- 4 locking wheels for safety when the car needs to stay in place
How We Use Them at Rods N Mods
On the 1967 Camaro
Our Camaro sits on a SpeedTech Extreme IRS chassis and has been one of our most active builds. When we need to move her from the fabrication area to the welding bay or reposition for bodywork, the Auto Glide Dollys make it a one-person job in under a minute. When you're doing high-end bodywork, you want the car at ride height on its suspension — not sitting awkwardly on a lift or cart — and that's exactly what these dollys allow.
On the 1956 Ford F100 and 1969 Mustang
Every car in our shop is on these now. The F100 build involves a lot of repositioning between metalwork, fabrication, and paint prep. Being able to roll it cleanly to wherever we need it — and lock it down safely — keeps our workflow moving instead of stalling.
Own Your Shop Space
One of the biggest underrated benefits is what it does to your shop layout. When every car can move freely in any direction, you're no longer designing your workspace around where cars are stuck. You can:
- Move vehicles closer together to free up floor space
- Clean your entire shop floor without working around immovable builds
- Reposition for each stage — tear-down, fabrication, metalwork, paint, final assembly
- Slide a chassis under a body and position it precisely for body-on-chassis installs without fighting it into place
Whether you're a professional shop or a serious home builder, the Auto Glide Dolly pays for itself in time saved and headaches avoided on the first big move.
