Delivering Holiday Cheer in Style: Our 1956 Ford F100 "Christmas Delivery" Truck

If Santa Claus decided to trade in his sleigh for something with a little more American muscle, we’re pretty sure he’d pick this.

At Rods N Mods, we love a classic red truck, especially when it screams "Christmas." In our latest episode of Playing Hooky, we took our stunning 1956 Ford F100 Long Bed out for a rip around St. George to see if it’s ready for the holiday rush. Spoiler alert: It definitely delivers.

A Piece of History Under the Tree

The 1956 F100 is a legend in the truck world. It was a milestone year where Ford switched from a 6-volt to a 12-volt electrical system, opening the door for modern luxuries we take for granted today—like windshield wipers that actually work and brighter headlights for those foggy Christmas Eves.

While collectors often hunt for the rare "Big Window" variant (only 6,200 made!), this specific truck is a unicorn in its own right. It’s an Express Model Long Bed, one of only 25,000 produced. It’s got the extra cargo space you’d need to haul a serious load of presents.

Modern Power for the Holiday Haul

We couldn't leave it stock, of course. This isn't just a farm truck anymore; it’s a proper restomod.

Under the hood, we’ve swapped out the old push-rod engine for a 4.6L Dual Overhead Cam V8. If that sounds familiar, it shares the same DNA as the legendary 2003-2004 Mustang Mach 1. With an aluminum block and better cooling, this truck runs smoother and cooler than anything that rolled off the line in the 50s.

Inside, the cabin is a cozy place to escape the winter chill. We’ve fitted it with a custom black interior featuring red stitching—keeping that holiday theme alive—and a fresh set of Autometer gauges that look retro but perform with modern precision.

Watch Us Play Hooky!

We decided to skip work (don't tell the boss) and take this red beauty for a cruise through Snow Canyon and a pit stop at Maverick for some pizza. The ride is surprisingly quiet, the power is instant, and it turns heads everywhere it goes.
